Challenge
With strong SEO foundations already in place, we wanted to grow a specific slice of organic traffic: visits driven by AI assistants. Around a year ago, we saw that ChatGPT had begun sending a small trickle of traffic to our product pages of around 3 to 5 sessions a month. These users were highly targeted, landing directly on our service pages. The opportunity was clear: if we could grow that slice, we could increase valuable traffic that had a high commercial intent from AI LLMs including ChatGPT.
Solution
We built on what was already working in our SEO approach and used our own AI SEO Services aimed at improving how our brand and website appeared in AI responses.
We improved our structured data, adding schema types like LocalBusiness, FAQs, and Organisation where relevant.
We made sure our business details (NAP) were consistent across all platforms.
We added internal links between key product pages, service pages, and supporting blog content.
We rewrote parts of our product pages content using FAQs and direct-answer phrasing versus high-level "marketing speak".
We worked harder to build even more trust signals: more directory listings, more reviews, more social mentions, and more digital PR through journalist responses.
We expanded how and where we shared our content on social media.
Result
In less than a year, we’ve improved our services content, optimising not just for SEO but also for LLM / AI assistant prompts.
We've gone from around 5 referrals from AI platforms per month to over 100 on a consistent basis. That’s a 20x increase in AI-referred traffic!
