How employee ownership works

  • We’ve become employee owned through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). In simple terms, this means the business is now owned by a trust, which holds the shares on behalf of our employees.
  • There are no outside investors. No parent company. No external shareholders to please. Just a business that belongs to the people who run it every day.
  • We’ve joined a growing list of businesses who’ve chosen this route, including names like John Lewis and Richer Sounds. It’s a model that keeps decisions in the hands of those who care most.

Why did we do it?

Successful businesses often change ownership at some point in their journey. We could have gone another way. Sold to a bigger agency. Looked for private investors. But that’s never been what The SEO Works is about.

We’ve grown this company from the ground up, with real effort, care, and commitment from the people who’ve worked here.

We didn’t want our values to get lost in a takeover, or be eroded by people who don’t know the team, our culture, or our clients.

By becoming employee owned, we’ve kept everything that makes us who we are – and given every team member a real say in what comes next.
