The beginning of a new year is a great time to not just reflect, but also look forward.
In a world as fast-paced as digital marketing, if you wait for developments to emerge, you’ll likely be left behind – it’s crucial to be proactive, look ahead, and try and preempt emerging trends and evolutions.
In last year’s article, 2025 in Digital, our senior leader’s thoughts were dominated by AI – something which turned out to be for very good reason.
Artificial intelligence impacted all aspects of marketing throughout last year – from the emergence of AI Overviews, LLM search, increasing automation and more!
But by looking ahead, rather than just responding, we were able to ensure our place at the forefront of these new developments. As this exciting technology evolved, we were able to publish exciting research into its potential, incorporate AI visibility into our standard SEO service, and even build a useful free LLM audit tool for businesses.
But what’s on the horizon for 2026? We spoke to a group of our experts from throughout our service delivery team to gain insight into what they think marketers should be aware of.
Whilst trends from last year will definitely continue (yes, more AI), there are some exciting new evolutions that you should definitely all prepare for!

For me, I foresee that we’ll be keeping a close eye on the effects of Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and LLMs like ChatGPT in 2026.
With more upcoming losses to organic traffic, content needs to be smarter than ever. This includes targeting high-intent keywords, providing tools and data that AI Overviews can’t, and working with brands to give human insights that knock AI slop out of the park.
All alongside making sure your website can be easily crawled by AI, so your brand is seen in the best possible light. I see the way to do this is by continually putting out content that follows those important E-E-A-T guidelines. Keep that up, and you’re halfway there.

In 2025, we’ve seen increased awareness of just how important brand is. I think in 2026 this will only grow, and with that, so does the importance of integration.
It’s always been important, especially with SEO and Digital PR. However, we can see this going even further, extending to other marketing channels.
Due to brand being so important now, different marketing channels working together and supporting one another will only increase this. A Digital PR campaign can be altered so it is usable for social media, and blog content can be optimised for SEO, helping boost views and engagement across the board, supporting brand awareness.
Brand is also a factor when it comes to AI search, increasing the importance of brand even further in 2026.
With this increased awareness of how important brand is, and how that can take a while to build, we hope it reinforces that Digital PR isn’t a quick fix and has a range of longer-term benefits.

I predict 2026 to be a year of more AI-driven questions with a selective number of answers.
I think we’ll see the introduction of ads in the AI snippets on the SERPs, so the need to have some combination of Performance Max, AI Max or dynamic search ads will go up.
As AI ad format adoption increases, you’ll need to keep an extremely close eye on your numbers. I still think there’s going to be an opportunity to split things out in a granular, manual way.
But the real opportunity will be to make it your business to know your business, and not be afraid to take control if bidding automation isn’t working. Keep a close eye on the ball in 2026.

As predicted, AI has become a much more prominent feature in the website development process, creating new opportunities that haven’t previously been a possibility. However, moving into next year, I foresee personalisation and accessibility becoming more important than ever.
Personalisation is proven to increase engagement and conversion rates, therefore the benefit of AI will become increasingly tangible for businesses in 2026.
This will enable websites to become more personalised with automated UI adaptations and tailored content based on user behaviour and their choices.
User expectations grow year by year. On top of personalisation, accessibility and privacy will become essentials rather than additional features.
Designing and developing with inclusivity and privacy in mind not only increases the potential user base, but also better user experience and numerous benefits for SEO.
- In: Using AI to drive personalisation
- Out: Seeing accessibility as an option

Personally, I foresee the shift towards authenticity and relatability continuing into 2026, but this year, following trends and jumping on templated memes to chase vanity metrics won’t be the way forward.
Instead, I feel it will be about continuing to stay true to your brand image, so your target audience gets value from your posts, not just more of something they’ve already seen multiple times on their timeline.
This doesn’t mean your content has to be boring! Explore new formats, play with brand colour and font combinations and see what you can create.
With AI being pushed from all angles, good, honest human-written expert content is not something we’ll compromise on in 2026.
- In: Focusing on the honest and the human
- Out: Jumping on trends to chase vanity metrics
Conclusion
So there you have it! Whilst 2026 promises to be another year with a lot of AI-related development, there are lots of other exciting things for us to get stuck into too.
And the key with all of these trends is to ask yourself what they mean for your industry and your business now. Get ahead of the game, and start working them into your approaches – that way, you won’t just avoid being left behind, but you can get ahead of your competitors.
But we understand that navigating the digital marketing world is hardly simple. Whether it’s knowing how to ensure seamless campaign integration, or understanding what AI tools need to crawl your content… knowing the trends and doing something about them are two different things!
But luckily, we’re here to help. Get in touch with our team today, and make 2026 the best year yet for your business.
