Introducing… Ben Foster, CEO

We sat down with the man in charge, Ben, to get to know more about him, his vision for the agency, what he’s proud of and more!

Please introduce yourself…

Hi, I’m Ben, I’ve been at The SEO Works for nearly 10 years. I joined as the Managing Director, and I’m now CEO!

Before The SEO Works, I gained a lot of hands-on experience across the digital industry. I started my career by designing and building websites, then I was an account manager at an agency, and then I moved into a leadership role at a digital health business. When the chance to lead The SEO Works came up, it felt like the right opportunity to use everything I had learned about helping clients get the best growth online.

What does your role involve?

As CEO, I’m responsible for the overall success of the business, including the vision, mission, direction and strategy. But it’s not about me – it’s about the team, as they continue to lead and deliver. We’ve got a strong culture of ownership and transparency where people are encouraged to be in control of their own time and responsibilities.

Our company values are Drive, Adaptability, Passion, Integrity and Loyalty.

Integrity is huge for me – delivering what you have promised (and being honest about mistakes) builds trust amongst those you work with. Adaptability is also really important for our sector – things change all the time, and being agile helps keep us impactful. It’s key to champion these values and celebrate them when they happen.

What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

I love working in this field; it’s fast-moving and I’m constantly learning! Being able to measure the impact we have on our clients’ digital growth is very rewarding, and knowing you’re helping other businesses in their success is a great feeling.

Growth and improvement is what drives me. We regularly review processes and work on small but continual improvements, and it’s amazing how we evolve and become even better at what we do. I love seeing talented people come together, grow with their own development, and create work that they are proud of.

Tell us something you’re particularly proud of

We’ve recently become employee-owned, which was a huge step for the business, putting the future of the agency directly into the hands of the people who make us successful.

It’s early days, but culturally this aligns with what we’re about. It means every single person has a real stake in what we do, resulting in an even stronger focus on digital growth for our clients.

What’s your vision for the agency?

My vision is for us to be the most trusted partner globally for businesses that want to grow online. The digital space can be exhausting for business owners and marketing managers who just want to know what works. We want our customers to choose us because of our service level and ability to deliver clear results.

We’ve been doing this for over 17 years, which is a lifetime in this industry. We use years of experience to help filter out the noise and focus on the changes that actually help a business grow.

Our goal isn’t for ‘big bang’ expansion, but rather a commitment to sustainable success that looks after our team and keeps our clients winning for years, not just months. We want to build something that lasts.
