Introducing… Graham Jones, Head of Web

We sat down with Graham Jones, to ask him about his career, his team and the web industry. Here’s what he said…

Please Introduce Yourself

Hi, I’m Graham Jones, Head of Web here at The SEO Works. I have over 15 years of experience in the web industry, and have been here for just over four years.

Having previously worked as a Web Consultant and Project Manager, I was honoured to take on this role and the responsibility of being Head of Web here. Being able to help build the team and expand our offerings as a company has been a majorly exciting.

What part of your job do you find most rewarding?

The most satisfying part of my role is the collaborative work to achieve great results. It’s great to cooperate and knowledge-share with both my team and the wider company so we can scope the potential solutions to complex problems.

As a creative, I love to have constant involvement in creating something new, as there are rarely two similar projects. I’m also passionate about empowering people to do their jobs better throughout the project lifecycle.

Can you tell us about an exciting development in the web world?

One exciting development in web (and I hate to say it) is AI.

As mentioned in 2025 in Digital, efficiency and productivity are the key areas of focus initially, and the prospect of utilising AI tools to automate the more mundane or routine coding tasks, such as debugging and testing, will allow us to focus on more complex challenges.

This could lead to faster development cycles and more efficient workflows, but more importantly, more creative thought.

I still feel that there’s yet more to see with the IoT (internet of things).

Traditionally IoT devices have been in the realm of product and UI designers, but we’re now seeing the development of APIs that can be used by developers to communicate with IoT devices.

This means developers are exploring ways to further integrate IoT data into web platforms, enabling real-time data visualisations, predictive analytics, and personalised experiences.

Talk us through one of the proudest moments from your career

This is gonna sound corny, but one of my proudest moments was being able to join The SEO Works as Web Team Leader, I was thrilled!

I was already aware of The SEO works as one of the largest digital agencies in the UK, so to be asked to join the team in a role that seemed to encompass all my key skills and reflect my passion for web was almost too good to be true.

I really haven’t looked back since joining the team. I’ve been able to put all my knowledge and experience accumulated over the years to use, work on some amazing web projects and work alongside some of the most talented and professional people in the sector.

Explain what you feel may be the biggest challenge in 2025?

One of the biggest challenges, aside from adapting to new technologies like AI and addressing evolving security threats, we need to negotiate an assault course of advancing content management requirements, continued scalability, while also keeping pace with the ever-evolving design trends and regulatory changes.

Cybersecurity remains a biggie, and web-masters are having to reassess and implement more advanced protocols to counter the emerging wave of AI-powered attacks.

As ever, though, we always have our work cut out staying up to date with technical advancements. AI is also throwing a curve ball, and whilst the prospect of the automation it brings is exciting (as mentioned above), there’s a lot of research and development to be done to ensure we hit the ground running in its implementation.

How does your web team set itself apart?

What sets my team apart is our place in the wider integrated digital agency. We have the luxury of being able to work directly alongside the guys in both the SEO and PPC teams to ensure that our sites don’t just look great, but tick the boxes performance-wise too.

Whilst there’s a multitude of tools out there for web creation, we’ve opted for a fully bespoke approach.

We have steered away from web builders and ‘off-the-shelf’ themes and instead we follow a custom web design and build approach, designed to address our client’s specific needs, whilst also keeping things streamlined performance-oriented.

We are WordPress developers primarily, but have developed our own theme utilising WordPress’s Gutenberg block system, which offers scalability, flexibility and ease of use for our clients.

Aside from this, it’s fair to say that a team is the sum of its parts and it’s our individual personalities that set us apart from other agencies. We’re a set of knowledgeable, energised individuals driven to deliver the best possible results for our clients.

Whether its producing on point web page design to ensure conversion, or ensuring we address technical issues as quickly and thoroughly as possible, it’s our overall passion for web that pervades all that we do and hopefully resonates with our clients.

Thanks for joining us, Graham.

Thanks for having me. It’s been great to chat about the challenges we face in web and about our team in general.
